Maria Nicolaou

Director, Head of Audit

Maria is Director and Head of Audit & Assurance at SPL Audit (Cyprus) Ltd, with more than 30 years of experience in audit, assurance, advisory, and leadership roles. She also serves as Director of Professional Standards & Quality Assurance and Learning & Development Director.

Maria began her career in 1997 and joined KPMG Cyprus in 2000, where she served as Director until 2017. Throughout her career, she has led audit and advisory engagements for private and public organisations across sectors, including fintech, banking, electronic money institutions, investment funds, technology, shipping, retail, and e-commerce. She has also managed European projects in collaboration with the United Nations and the European Commission.

A specialist in IFRS advisory, Maria is a Certified Trainer with extensive experience delivering professional training on IFRSs, ISAs, audit methodology, and regulatory matters. She holds an Associate Degree in Accounting, is an FCCA, FAAT, and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), where she also serves on the Audit and Assurance Committee.
